District Administration (DA) launches Talent Hunt Programme to discover the potential players of cricket with the assistance of international cricketer Saeed Ajmal. This was declared by DCO Noor-ul-Amin Mengal while addressing the press conference along with cricketer Saeed Ajmal at Iqbal Stadium.
DO Sports Tariq Nazir, Administrator Iqbal Stadium Riaz Anjum and others were also present on the occasion. The DCO presented grant of Rs 0.5 million to Saeed Ajmal for his cricket academy which was set up at Agriculture University. The DCO informed that talented youth of cricket game would be selected for proper training with technical support of Saeed Ajmal. He announced the schedule of the trials and told that the trial for the female youth under 15 and 19 would be held on 11th April at Iqbal Stadium.
Similarly the trial of under-15 and under-19 male players would be held on 12th and 13th April, respectively, at this place. He assured all out support and help from the city district government for providing resources and other facilities for the training of the young cricketers. The DCO said that additional playgrounds for the cricket game would also be established throughout the district for providing ample opportunity to the cricket players near their doorsteps.
International cricketer Saeed Ajmal thanked the DCO for providing grant for the cricket academy and said that young cricket players would be discovered under talent hunt programme for their quality training in the academy. He told the conference that services of the qualified coaches have also been obtained from Pakistan Cricket Board for the local Cricket Academy. He lauded the district government's initiative for launching the talent hunt programme which would help in providing nursery to the cricket academy. He also thanked CM Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, MNA Haji Akram Ansari and Vice Chancellor Agriculture University Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan for providing land and other resources for establishing the Cricket Academy.
