Cash basis bids for hard red winter wheat were steady in the southern US Plains on Tuesday, dealers said. The market was quiet with routine dealings noted. Weather was turning warmer in the US Plains and melting snow was helpful for the new wheat, which was still largely dormant in key production areas. Protein premiums for railcar wheat to and through Kansas City were unchanged except for a jump of a dime a bushel for 13.00 percent protein wheat supplies.
At the Chicago Board of Trade, KCBT hard red winter wheat for March delivery traded at $6.77-1/4 per bushel Tuesday morning and May wheat was at $6.68.
