Federal Minister for Safron, Lieutenant General Abdul Qadir Baloch (retd) on Wednesday called on Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Engineer Shaukatullah at Governor's House and discussed with him law and order situation in detail prevailing at the moment in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata). Governor said that rehabilitation of internally displaced persons (IDPs) is a challenging task, and one which the government is trying its best to accomplish.
According to details, the KP governor in his meeting with federal minister discussed key issues relating to prevailing security, law and order situation in Fata. Moreover, a high level meeting was presided over by Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to review law and order situation and development work in Fata.
A detailed briefing was also given to the Federal minister for Safron from the officials of Fata secretariat on the occasion. Besides Additional Chief Secretary Fata Arbab Mohammad Arif, Secretary Law and order Jamal Nasir, Secretary Finance Waqar-ul Hassan, Secretary AI and C, DG FDMA, Chief Economist P and D Fata, additional secretary to Governor, Muhammad Dawood and other officials also attended the meeting.
The meeting is set to review law and order in Fata in general, with special focus on the IDPs in their smooth rehabilitation as well as promptly carry forward development activities in tribal areas. The officials informed the minister that tribal people have been facing impediments and constraints and have also been suffering a lot due to terrorism and Fata needs to be reformed politically and administratively. He was also briefed about the scholarship for Fata students under the President/Prime minister's scheme "Quality Education Opportunities for Talented students of Balochistan and Fata".
Responding to concerns about provision of compensation, minister said the government would be taken all possible steps to facilitate IDPs in their smooth rehabilitation soon.
He also assured on behalf of the federal government for rendering his full support as well as the problems of the tribal people will be resolved on priority. The minister also assured them of taking steps to materialise their suggestions. Federal minister also assured them for all sorts of co-operation for stability of Fata and tribal areas and bringing them into mainstream. He said that government would not indulge in any kind of discrimination in development and all provinces and tribal areas would be given funds in accordance with their share.
