The JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rahman has demanded major overhauling of 1947 Interim Act of Azad Kashmir. "Drastic efforts should be made to amend the Interim Act of 1947 as after nearly 60 years it still has not been brought in line with the new realities of Azad Kashmir", said the Maulana in a letter to the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday by JUI-F spokesperson, Jan Achakzai, the Maulana wrote the letter to Prime Minister after his visit to AJK where he met various political leaders, government functionaries and other stakeholders. Maulana said that there have been minor amendments in 1947 Interim Act, but they are not enough to serve the interest of different stakeholders. Maulana also mentioned his interaction with Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Chaudhry Abdul Majeed saying that they agreed to work for closer co-operation between the centre and AJK. He further stated that the resolution of the Kashmir issue is very important, as there has been a sense of increasing frustration on both side of the LoC particularly among the youth.-PR
