The important sessions of National Assembly and Senate, separately, will begin today (Monday) to discuss the situations arising out of the stalled peace dialogue with the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the government's future strategy, besides other important issues and legislative business.
Both the houses of the Parliament are scheduled to meet in the evening and parliamentary sources said that the two houses will hold debates on the law and order situation and the government's current strategy to carry out surgical strikes against the terrorists hideouts.
It was learnt that almost all the parliamentary parties, including the ruling PML-N, PPP and PTI, will hold their parliamentary parties meetings, respectively, prior to the National Assembly session at the Parliament House.
The sources said that the National Assembly is expected to offer Fateha for the deported souls of 23 FC personnel recently killed by the Taliban and others who have been killed by the terrorists recently in bomb attacks, which would be followed by the house debate on the menace of terrorism.
They said that the House is also expected to pass a resolution to express solidarity with the armed forces and security personnel fighting the terrorists.
According to the National Assembly's order of the day for Monday, Minister for Law Justice and Human Rights Pervaiz Rashid will move a bill further to amend the Legal Practitioners and Bar Councils Act, 1973 [The Legal Practitioners and Bar Councils (Amendment) Bill, 2013] for passage.
The minister will also lay before the National Assembly the Gas (Theft Control and Recovery) Ordinance, 2014 (No II of 2014) as required by clause (2) of Article 89 of the Constitution.
Similarly, there are also two call attention notices; one to be jointly moved by PML-N MNAs Chaudhary Nazeer Ahmad, Tahir Iqbal Chaudhry, Saeed Ahmed Khan Manais and Tahir Bashir Cheema to invite attention of the Minister for Communications regarding delay in the construction work of the bridge over River Satluj at Saho between District Vehari and District Bahawalnagar.
The second call attention notice will jointly be moved by MQM's Sheikh Salahuddin, Mohammad Rehan Hashmi, Syed Asif Hasnain, Sajid Ahmed and Saman Sultana Jafri to invite attention of the Minister for Water and Power to slow implementation of the PM's Energy Saver Programme.
Meanwhile, the Senate is also holding its session in the evening and PPP's Senator Syeda Sughra Imam will introduce the Pakistan Penal Code, 1860 and the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898 [The Anti-Honour Killings Laws (Criminal Laws Amendment) Bill, 2014] for certain amendments.
The house would also hold discussion on increasing incidents of Cyber crimes and the steps being taken by the government, the motion to be moved by Senator Karim Ahmed Khawaja (ii) the issue of power shortage and its effects on the economy, motion to be moved by Mohammad Talha Mehmood, and (iii) the privatization policy of the government. Motion to be moved by Mian Raza Rabbani.
Senator Sughra Imam would move a resolution for passage calling upon the government to include all water disputes of Pakistan with India in the Composite Dialogue or in any other talks with India."
There is also another resolution of Karim Ahmed Khawaja for consideration of the House that "This House [Senate] recommends that Charter of Democracy between Mohterma Benazir Shaheed and Mian Muhammad Nawaz Shareef be implemented especially Constitutional Court with equal number of Judges from all provinces may be established to decide the constitutional matters."
