Pakistan Mercantile Exchange (PMEX) witnessed bearish trend on Tuesday. Total value of trade went down by 19 per cent to PKR3,988 million from PKR4,908 million recorded on Monday. Number of lots traded increased to 17,928 from 15,354. PMEX Commodity Index closed at 3,273, up 1.32 per cent.
Major business was contributed by gold amounting PKR2,031 million, followed by crude oil (PKR1, 478 million) and silver (PKR479 million). There was 249 per cent increase in the volume of silver to PKR479 million from PKR137 million while volume of crude oil was down 43 per cent to PKR1,478 million from PKR2,591 million.
