Pakistan has received foreign inflows of over $1.66 billion (29 percent) in the first seven months of the current fiscal year out of the total budgeted foreign assistance of $5.74 billion, it is learnt. The government budgeted foreign assistance of $5.74 billion in 2013-14 including grants of $651.12 million and loans of $5.09 billion.
The inflow does not include the two tranche releases amounting to $1.09 billion disbursed by International Monetary Fund (IMF) under the 4 September approved $6.64 billion Extended Fund Facility. According to the documents available with Business Recorder the country received foreign assistance of only $112.34 million in the month of January including grants of $38.63 million and loans of $73.71 million from bilateral and multilateral donors.
China is expected to be the largest single donor with a budgeted inflow of $1.365 billion. The country received $16.95 million in January while a total of $216.20 million has so far been received from China in the current fiscal year, official sources revealed. Asian Development Bank (ADB) disbursed $25.96 million in January while a total of $269.58 million has been disbursed by the Bank so far in the current fiscal year out of the total budgeted $991.74 million.
IDB [S-Term] has released a total of $269.85 million in the current fiscal year. However, no amount was released in the month of January. International Development Association (IDA) disbursed $5.92 million last month while a total of $173.78 million was disbursed in the current year; and International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) released $2.88 million in January while a total of $49.61 million has been released to-date in the current year.
Islamic Development Bank (IDB) disbursed $11.04 million in January and a total of $127.79 million in the current year so far, USA released $36.41 million in January and $67.42 million to date in the current fiscal year, Saudi Arabia disbursed $44.12 million in the current year, however no amount was released last month, Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (Opec) disbursed $14.88 million in the current financial year while no disbursement was made in January, Japan released $10.93 million in January while a total of $42.65 million was disbursed in the current fiscal year so far. The country has not received any assistance from Turkey, Australia, UNDP, EU, Canada, Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation (GAVI) either as grant or loan during this period.
