The Karachi Port handled 83,140 tonnes of cargo comprising 64,241 tonnes of import cargo and 18,899 tonnes of export cargo including 3,056 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 64,241 tonnes comprised of 25,656 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4, 839 tonnes of general cargo; 16,230 tonnes of coal and 17,516 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 18,899 tonnes comprised of 14,300 tonnes of containerised cargo; 899 tonnes of general cargo and 3,700 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 3,056 containers comprising 1,934 containers import and 1,122 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 764 of 20's and 495 of 40's loaded while 100 of 20's and 40 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 484 of 20's and 112 of 40's loaded containers while 14 of 20's and 200 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Galbot, Beech-4, AS Orelia, Genuine Venus and Sagamore carrying oil tankers and containers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were seven vessels viz Kota Kasturi, Hyundai Jakarta, Pona, Sagamore, United Fortitude, Al-Mahboobah and Alexandors-III carrying containers, oil tankers and rolled coails respectively currently at the berths.
There were two ships namely Kota Kasturi and Alexandors-III with containers and rolled coails respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while four ships namely Hyundai Jakarta, United Fortitude, Al-Mahboobah and SFL Yukon with containers, oil tankers and coal respectively are expected to sail on Thursday. There were six vessels Wan Hai-513, PAC Aries, Hanjin San Francisco, Ever Result, Finisterre and Golden Denise carrying containers and ethanol respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while six vessels viz APL Sydney, UASC Ajman, Violetta, African Halcyon, Sam Tiger and Paglia carrying containers, DAP, cement and buses respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 152,612 tonnes comprising 95,755 tonnes of import cargo and 56,857 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 4,828 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 95,755 tonnes includes 50,900 tonnes of furnace oil and 3,250 tonnes of palm oil; 1,800 tonnes of chemicals and 39,805 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 56,857 tonnes includes of 4,930 tonnes of cement and 51,927 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 4,828 containers comprising 2,095 containers import and 2,733 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There were four ships namely CV Safmarine Ngami, CV Sakaka, MV Atlantic Glory and MT Lahore with containers, chemicals and furnace oil sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while another ship namely CV Sealand Washington with containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of seven vessels viz CV Sealand Washington, CV Safmarine Ngami, CV Sakaka, MV Ocean FurtureMV Atlantic Glory, MT Lahore and MT Bunga Angsana are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, chemicals, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as two ships namely CMA CGM Bellini and Notd Tradition with containers and cement are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There are two vessels viz CMA CGM Bellini and Notd Tradition with containers and cement expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Wednesday. There is one ship namely CV Hugo Sochulte with containers due to arrive on Thursday at Port Qasim.
