Taliban's cease-fire offer: Yousaf Shah urges government to give positive response
Coordinator of Taliban nominated committee, Maulana Yousaf Shah urged the government to give positive response to cease-fire decision of Taliban. Talking to this scribe, he said that the Taliban have shown seriousness regarding cease-fire, while government should also give a positive gesture in this regard. When asked about any contact with government committee, he said they have yet to be contacted.
He informed that Maulana Samiul Haq will arrive on Sunday night from Saudi Arabia, after performing Umrah, by shorting his visit, aimed at to move forward the peace-dialogue process. Yousaf Shah said that the government committee's reactions will come today on (Monday), following the announcement of cease-fire by TTP. He informed the Taliban committee's will also hold a meeting in Islamabad today (Monday) under the chairmanship of Samiul Haq.
During the meeting, he said they will discuss regarding peace-negotiation process and reaction of government committee's after the cease-fire by the Taliban as well. The co-ordinator Taliban committee said there are possibility to hold a joint meeting between Taliban's and government committee's under chairmanship of Federal Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.
Meanwhile, a member of the government proposed peace-committee, Rustam Shah Mohmand also made a similar demand that the government should also announce cease-fire. He said the Taliban had taken cease-fire decision in light of government demand. Now, he said the government should also make announcement for truce.
He informed that the members of the government peace-negotiation committee will meet within next two days, to review the overall situation. He said the move of Taliban has developed trust and a conducive environment for peace-talks. After the building of trust, he said it was essential to exchange prisoners from both sides on reciprocal basis. He said the government would demand from Taliban, for extension in cease-fire. He said the settlement of all issues will take some time.
