Qaumi Watan Party (QWP), Central chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has called upon the government to immediate outline-strategy and move forward the frozen peace-negotiations process, after announcement of cease-fire by Taliban.
"The cease-fire by Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is a good omen for advancement of the stalled peace-negotiations process, while talking to media persons attending a condolence reference here on Sunday, held here at Peshawar Press Club, to remember services of the party slain leader, Adalat Khan Advocate.
He, however, said that cease-fire would not be ultimate solution for elimination of the prolonged militancy and terrorism in the country. He said there needs to take more pragmatic measures for restoration of everlasting calm and stability.
QWP chief further said if the Taliban decision of cease-fire based on honesty, then it has been more sensible and clever move from their side. Now, he said the government should also take the decision serious and give positive response as well. It should also devise policy with consultation of parliament leaders of all parties and other relevant stakeholders, to immediate resume the broken peace-process.
He said according to reports, the all TTP factions have been given assurance to abandon violent activities after the announcement of cease-fire.
Earlier, addressing the condolence reference, Sherpao said that the terrorism is serious and complex issue, in which Pakhtuns are directly affecting as compared to other parts of the country. He stressed for devising special programme to compensate the prolonged terrorism-affected people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata.
He said the Paktuns are worried about future of their coming generations, under present circumstances.
"Terrorists are not even spared mosques, education institutions, hujras, and funerals, Sherpao said. He said the peace is eminent for progress and development of the country, for which we need to take co-ordinated steps, instead of following any individual move in this regard, he added.
Regarding the recently announced National Security Policy, he said the policies had been formulated in the past, but the implementation was remained very poor. Sherpao criticised the PTI-led provincial government for accusing police and other security forces agencies, allegedly indulgence in corruption and 'Sifarish', termed the perceptions had down moral of the police force.
