The Meteorological department on Sunday predicted more rains at scattered places of the country on Monday and Tuesday. Spokesman of Met-office said that another weather system has entered Balochistan and approaching upper parts of the country on Monday. Under the influence of this weather system, more winter rains with thunderstorm are expected at scattered places of Balochistan, KP, Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir from Sunday to Tuesday.
Rain is also expected in Islamabad on Monday/Tuesday. Snowfall is also expected in Murree, Galyat, Malakand, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir on Monday/Tuesday.
The barani areas of Punjab, KP and Balochistan may receive moderate rainfall during the period. Hailstorm is also expected at isolated places in the sub mountainous region of Punjab, KP and Kashmir.
The spokesman further stated that winter rain during last three months (December-February) remained largely below normal in the country. However some good rains are expected in the month of March. Met-office predicted 3-4 spells of winter/spring rains during March 2014.
MET office forecast for today:
Widespread rain-thunderstorm (with snow over hills) expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir, scattered in Islamabad, Upper Punjab( Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha divisions)and Gilgit-Baltisan, while, Isolated rain-TS expected in Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, D G Khan, Sukkur and Makran divisions. Partly cloudy weather with chances of light rain/drizzle also expected at a few places in Sindh. Hailstorm expected at isolated places of Pothohar region during the period.
Scattered thunderstorm/rain accompanied by gusty winds, snowfall over the hills may occur over Western Balochistan, lower Sindh, lower and central Punjab. Also, hailstorm is likely to occur at isolated places of the country.
