Punjab Seed Act 2013 is in final phase of preparation and will soon be tabled in the provincial assembly for approval. The government has asked all the stakeholders including growers' organisations and private seed companies to submit their proposals for drafting of this bill for early tabling in the assembly and enforcement after approval.
Secretary Agriculture Punjab, Dr Ijaz Munir while chairing a meeting held here on Tuesday in this regard said that a Seed Act dealing with seed registration of different crops, monitoring of crops, testing of seeds and quality monitoring at the federal level. However, the agriculture has fallen in the purview of provinces after passage of 18th amendment.
