Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front (PIAF) on Wednesday urged the Punjab government to review security arrangements in all the industrial estates, leading markets and shopping malls to avoid any untoward incident. PIAF Chairman Malik Tahir Javed, Senior Vice Chairman Khamis Saeed Butt and Vice Chairman Amjad Ali Jawa said the government should direct the concerned departments to convene a meeting of business and trade leaders to identify their requirements to reinforce security arrangements in and around their industrial estates and shopping malls.
The PIAF leaders said it is a good sign that economic activities have been started gaining momentum for which credit goes to present government but at the same time it is the duty of the government to ensure peace as well. They said security arrangements made in consultation with the business community would help give desired results besides bringing in much needed foreign investment.
They said the government would have to implement also foolproof mechanism to monitor the security equipment and arrangements on regular basis. They said it is very unfortunate that the terrorists made their escape from Islamabad because the close circuit cameras installed there were not functioning while security gates were out of order.
The PIAF leaders said the investment scenario would remain bleak unless and until the investors are provided conducive business environment.
