The Karachi Port handled 77,771 tonnes of cargo comprising 33,482 tonnes of import cargo and 44,289 tonnes of export cargo including 3,264 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 33,482 tonnes comprised of 15,294 tonnes of containerised cargo; 15,357 tonnes of general cargo; 1,906 tonnes of DAP and 925 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 44,289 tonnes comprised of 31,176 tonnes of containerised cargo; 35 tonnes of general cargo; 12,628 tonnes of bulk cargo: 9,654 tonnes of cement; 2,974 tonnes of talcum powder and 450 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 3,264 containers comprising 1,079 containers import and 2,185 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 388 of 20's and 323 of 40's loaded while 1 of 20's and 22 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 828 of 20's and 465 of 40's loaded containers while 101 of 20's and 163 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were four ships namely Hyundai Confidence, Kota Gembira, Posen and Leader carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. PAC Aries, Berlin Bridge, APL Sokhna, Oriental Marguerite, Cape Diem-II and Montrose carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There was four ships namely PAC Aries, Berlin Bridge, Positano and Sam Tiger with containers and cement respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while four ships namely MSC Didem, Cape Diem-II, African Halcyon and Montrose with containers, chemicals, DAP and general cargo respectively expected to sail on Friday.
There were three vessels viz. MSC Didem, UASC Ajman and Jin Da carrying containers and steel respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while six vessels viz. Elini-I, Bandirma, Al-Yarmouk, Thelisis, Ikan Parang and Bunga Lucerne carrying containers, ethanol, oil tanker, coal and chemicals respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
The total import cargo of 31,910 tonnes includes 28,091 tonnes of furnace oil; 3,819 tonnes of chemicals and nil tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo includes 8,485 tonnes of cement and nil tonnes of containerised cargo. There were two ships namely MV SC Taipei and MV Ocean Future with chemicals and cement sailed out to sea on Thursday morning.
A total number of four vessels viz. MV SFL Yukon, MV Ocean Furture, MV SC Taipei and MT Nassau Energy were occupied berths to load/offload cement, chemicals and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as two ships namely Bux Contact and Dubai Express with containers are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
There were three vessels viz. CV Bux Contact, CV CMA CGM Mozart and CV Dubai Express carrying containers expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal on Thursday. There were two ships namely CV JPO Libra and CV Rio Blanco with containers due to arrive on Thursday, while another ship namely CV MSC Didem with containers is due to arrive on Friday at Port Qasim. There are four vessels viz CV Bux Contact, CV CMA CGM Mozart, CV JPO Libra and CV Rio Blanco carrying containers due to arrive at Port Qasim as per schedule.
