The second edition of Japan Fest-2014 has begun at Karachi on the other day. Presiding over the inaugural ceremony of the event, Consulate General of Japan Akira Ouchi has paid rich tribute to a famous Urdu novelist, playwright and drama writer Fatima Suraiya Bajia.
In his speech, Akira said the second edition of Japan Fest-2014 was aimed at enhancing the knowledge of Pakistanis about Japan. He hoped that many people would come in that event to get firsthand information about Japan and its culture. Earlier, Sadia Rasheed, President Pakistan-Japan Cultural Association (PJCA), Sindh, said Bajia was a lifetime chairperson of PJCA and both countries - Pakistan and Japan - had conferred high awards to her.
She said both countries shared same cultural values like respect for elders, etc while music, doll-making and sports were some other commonalities between these two countries. This three-day fest has been organised by PJCA, Sindh with the support of the Consulate General of Japan in Karachi and Japanese cultural groups at local hotel here. The theme of this event is 'Explore the Richness of Japan'.
Ikebana, marshal arts and poster contest are core features of this event, which is joined by some Japanese multinational companies including Suzuki, Fuji, etc. Rossalis R Adenan, Consul General of Indonesia, TV celebrities including Shakeel, Anwar Maqsood, Zubaida Appa, Huma Meer, Qazi Wajid and people from all walks of life were also present at the inaugural ceremony of Japan Fest 2014.
