The Karachi Iron and Steel Merchants Association (KISMA) has sought the help of President Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Abdullah Zaki to bring their issues rising incident of Bhatta and kidnapping for ransom in the note federal government so that the government should adopt some practical measures to protect steel trades.
A delegation of KISMA lead by its President Shamoon Baqir Ali met president KCCI and apprises him about prevailing law and order condition in steel markets in detail. He expressed dissatisfaction over measurable failure of law enforcing agencies to protest traders of iron and steel. He said that in prevailing difficult situation of increased kidnapping for ransom, extortion of money (Bhatta) it has become impossible to continue business in Karachi.
Abdullah Zaki assured the delegation that he will bring their issue in the knowledge of concerned authorities in federal government as well as approach heads of law enfacing agencies to resolve their issue on priority bases. He said any unpleasant incident occurred in the city have a very serious negative impact on industries and other business. He said that it is complete failure of law enforcing agencies to apprehend culprits involved kidnapping, killing and extortion of money. He was of the view that police department must be equipped with latest weapons, other necessary equipment and technology in order to effectively deal with rising incidents of lawlessness.
He noted that at present police mobiles and motorbikes responsible for patrolling in different areas of the city are in terrible shape whereas most of the new and comparatively better vehicles are seen deployed for the security of VIPs. He further pointed out that at present police used obsolete weapons due to which failed to apprehend culprits.
Vice President KCCI, Muhammad Idrees fervently slammed the high-ups of law enforcing agencies for their failure to restore peace and ensure security to business community. He pointed out that the law and order situation in Old City areas has worsened sharply as dozens of perturbed businessmen have approached KCCI for assistance. KISMA delegation comprised of its Chairman Haji Ghulam Muhammad, President Shamoon Baqir Ali, Senior Vice President Ashraf Govawala, Secretary General Muhammad Ahmed and Treasurer Jawed Motiwala.
