The Karachi Port handled 299,536 tonnes of cargo comprising 226,713 tonnes of import cargo and 72,823 tonnes of export cargo including 7,250 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 226,713 tonnes comprised of 76,632 tonnes of containerised cargo; 17,722 tonnes of general cargo; 63,885 tonnes of bulk cargo: 63,735 tonnes of coal; 150 tonnes of DAP and 68,474 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 72,823 tonnes comprised of 59,820 tonnes of containerised cargo; 9,563 tonnes of iron steel and 3,440 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 7,250 containers comprising 2,755 containers import and 4,495 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. The break-up of imported containers shows 981 of 20's and 695 of 40's loaded while 12 of 20's and 186 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,198 of 20's and 681 of 40's loaded containers while 593 of 20's and 671 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were twelve ships namely Elini-1, Oriental Marguerite, Kota Hening, Rio Chicago, Gleaming Oasis, CSC Zhong Hai, Kuwana, Jin Da, Dumun, Prime Express, Bunga Lucerne and African Halcyon carrying containers, general cargo, steel, naphtha, chemicals and DAP respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were eleven vessels viz. Japan, Kota Hening, Rio Chicago, MOL Solution, MOL Dignity, Al Yarmouk, Bandirma, Blue Sea, Kuwana, Gleaming Oasis, and CSC Zhong Hai carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were three ships namely Japan, Al Yarmouk and Theusis with containers, oil tanker and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Monday, while three ships namely MOL Solution, MOL Dignity and Ikan Parang with containers and coal respectively expected to sail on Tuesday. There was one vessel viz. Hyundai General carrying containers due to arrive on Monday, while five vessels viz. ACX Diamond, Kota Genesis, Al Mahboobah, BSS Force and TDT-3 carrying containers, chemicals and MOL respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 43,890 tonnes comprising 16,926 tonnes of import cargo and 26,964 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 1,711 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 16,926 tonnes includes 7,959 tonnes of chemicals and 8,967 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo includes 26,964 tonnes of containerised cargo. There were two ships namely CV MSC Lavina and MV Atlantic Glory with containers and chemicals sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while two more ships namely CV Maersk Columbus and MV Genuine Hercules with containers and chemicals are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of six vessels viz. CV MSC Lavina, CV Maersk Columbus, MV SFL Yukon, MV Atlantic Glory, MV Genuine Hercules and MT Beech-4 were occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, chemicales and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as three ships namely Safmarine Ngami, MT Karachi and Al-Soor-II with containers, furnace oil and diesel oil are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There were three vessels viz. containers and chemicals took berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Sunday. There is one ship namely CV Safmarine Ngami with containers due to arrive on Monday at Port Qasim as per schedule.
