The Sindh government has decided in principle to launch surgical operation in violence-prone Lyari to rid the neighbourhood of criminal elements. A decision in this regard was taken during an important meeting on law and order, presided over by Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah here on Thursday evening.
The CM, however, also ordered that it should carefully be considered that common people might not suffer during the operation. During a meeting, an idea was also mooted to issue red warrants for absconding heads of Lyari gang war elements who have managed to escape to abroad.
The CM said check-posts of police and Rangers should be increased in Lyari. A strong strategy should be devised to restore peace in Lyari, the Chief Minister told the meeting. It was also decided to immediately stop establishment of illegal and unregistered seminaries in rural and urban areas of the province.-PR
