Nawaz Sharif rejects NSC’s statement on his Mumbai attacks remarks

Turning down the statement of National Security Committee (NSC) that termed Nawaz Sharif's remarks regarding Mumbai

Turning down the statement of National Security Committee (NSC) that termed Nawaz Sharif's remarks regarding Mumbai killings in 2008 as incorrect and misleading, the ousted prime minister said that the statement by the NSC was distressing.

Speaking to the media outside an accountability court on Tuesday, the deposed Prime Minister Sharif said that everyone should know who had made Pakistan into the current situation. "Pakistan used to be so beautiful. Looking at it now is very disheartening," he said.

The three-time premier said that Pakistan was isolated from all the other countries. Sharif reiterated his demand for a national commission to probe treason allegations against him regarding his statement.

PM Abbasi ‘stands by his party quaid’ Nawaz Sharif

Sharif has come under fire after his controversial statements regarding Mumbai attacks in 2008. In an interview to a newspaper on Saturday, Sharif said, “Militant organisations are active. Call them non-state actors, should we allow them to cross the border and kill 150 people in Mumbai? Explain it to me. Why can’t we complete the trial?” He asked for the explanation as to why the trial regarding it has not been completed.

For his controversial statement, a meeting of the NSC, the country’s top civil-military body was conducted on Monday. The committee had rejected and condemned the statement of Sharif. NSC had termed his statement as 'incorrect and misleading'.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqqan Abbasi had, however, showed his support to Sharif and said, “As the prime minister, I stand with Nawaz Sharif.”
