The Karachi Port handled 63,529 tonnes of cargo comprising 40,263 tonnes of import cargo and 23,266 tonnes of export cargo including 4,271 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 40,263 tonnes comprised of 34,678 tonnes of containerised cargo and 5,585 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 23,266 tonnes comprised of 18,892 tonnes of containerised cargo; 320 tonnes of general cargo; 1,254 tonnes of cement and 2,800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,271 containers comprising 2,690 containers import and 1,581 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 814 of 20's and 836 of 40's loaded while 196 of 20's and 4 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 425 of 20's and 328 of 40's loaded containers while 68 of 20's and 216 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were three ships namely MSC Levina, TDT 3 and Marianne Danica with containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessels viz. APL Seattle, Ever Pearl, MCT Monte Rosa and Marianne Danica carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There were three ships namely APL Seattle, Ever Pearl and Chemroute Sun with containers, and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Friday, while two ships namely Captain Costas and UASC Ajman with containers respectively expected to sail on Saturday.
There were three vessels viz. UASC Ajman, X-Press Euphrates and FEN carrying containers and oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Friday, while three vessels viz. Positano, Nicos Tomasos and Jasper Arrow carrying containers, oil tanker and vehicles respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
The total import cargo of 30,608 tonnes includes 15,656 tonnes of diesel oil and 14,952 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo includes 6,930 tonnes of containerised cargo. There were two ships namely CV APL Oman and MT Al-Soor-II with containers and oil tanker sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while another ship namely CV ER Denmark with containers sailed out to sea on the same day afternoon.
A total number of four vessels viz. CV APL Oman, CV ER Denmark, MV Ikan Parang and MT Al-Soor-II were occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as eight ships namely Hansa Africa, MSC Levina, CMA CGM Verdi, MT Beech-4, MT Lahore, MT Quetta, MT Karachi and Thelisis with containers, furnace oil and cement are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
There were two vessels carrying containers took berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal on Thursday. There were five ships namely CV Hansa Africa, CV MSC Levina, CV CMA CGM Verdi, MT Lahore and MV Thelisis with containers, furnace oil and cement due to arrive on Friday at Port Qasim as per schedule.
