March 12, 2014 (AFP) - Google on Wednesday confirmed that video game gear gurus from start-up Green Throttle have joined its team, fuelling talk of plans for an Android-powered game system. The Internet titan did not disclose details regarding the deal under which co-founders Matt Crowley and Karl Townsend and other members of the Green Throttle team are putting their skills to work for Google.
Another co-founder, Charles Huang, continues to run California-based Green Throttle, according to Google.
Huang is known for his role in creating hit music video game "Guitar Hero."
"Stick around and we'll keep you posted on the evolution of Green Throttle," the company said in a message posted at its website.
Green Throttle was launched in early 2012 with an aim of making wireless controllers that could be used for play on Android-powered smartphones or tablets as well as video game console-style boxes using the Google-backed operating software.
The acquisition of Green Throttle talent and technology buttressed rumours that Google is planning a video game system based on Android.
