Sixty trucks of relief items worth Rs 50 million sent by Punjab government for the affectees of Thar have reached Sindh. The relief articles include 20, 000 food hampers, 40,000 mineral water bottles of Nestle company and packets of 75,000 kilogram rice which will be distributed in the affected areas. Punjab Disaster Management Department will remain in Sindh till complete rehabilitation of the drought affectees.
This is not the time for politics but to serve the humanity and relief goods sent from Punjab will be distributed among the affectees without any discrimination.
This was stated by former member assembly Arbab Zulfiqar while distributing relief items among the affectees in village Khakhrihar, tehsil Islam Kot in Mithi. Arbab Fawad, Director General Punjab Disaster Management Authority Muhammad Asif, Director Zaheer Abbas and local leaders of Muslim League-N were also present on the occasion. They said that people of Sindh highly appreciate the determination expressed by Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif of continuing to help the affectees till their complete rehabilitation.
DG Punjab Disaster Management Authority while talking to journalists informed that in the first phase Punjab government has distributed food hampers as well as two thousands mineral water bottles of 1.5 litre of Nestle Company among the affected families. He said that food hampers contain one week ration for a family of 5 persons. Each food hamper consists of 10 kg atta bag, 2 kg sugar, 2 kg gram pulse, 2 kg masoor pulse, 2 kg ghee, 800 gram iodine salt, 200 gram tea, chilli powder and a match box.
Moreover, besides setting up a special camp in Mithi to meet food and other requirements of the affectees has also established a warehouse for storing relief goods. Muhammad Asif said that a method has been evolved for the distribution of relief goods coming from Punjab and it will be provided to the affectees of far flung areas on daily basis under the supervision of PDMA teams. He said that on the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab the process of dispatching food hampers from Hyderabad has also been started.
