King of Bahrain Shaikh Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa is scheduled to visit Pakistan from March 18 to 20, 2014 on the invitation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. According to Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam, the king would be leading a high-level delegation including members of cabinet, government officials and important businessmen.
During his stay in Islamabad, King Hamad would hold talks with the President and the Prime Minister on bilateral, regional and international matters of mutual interest. "The visit would also provide a good opportunity to explore ways and means to further strengthen co-operation in diverse areas of interest particularly in expanding bilateral trade and enhance investments in Pakistan," she said, adding that in this context, the accompanying Bahraini businessmen will meet their Pakistani counterpart.
She said the two sides will also discuss ways to increase export of Pakistani manpower to Bahrain and to facilitate 100,000 strong Pakistani community residing in the Kingdom of Bahrain, which serves as a bridge between the two brotherly countries and plays a positive role in the development of Bahrain as well as contributes to Pakistan's economy.
"The Bahraini King's visit is of special significance since it would be the first official visit of the King of Bahrain to Pakistan in four decades," she said, adding that this visit will give a new impetus to the existing fraternal bonds between the two countries.
Meanwhile, Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz while dispelling the rumours about the visit of the King of Bahrain, told the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs that the visit of the King has no linkage with the recent visit of Saudi Crown Prince and the media speculations about Pakistan's policy shift towards Syria.
