The Ministry of Commerce has asked the Trading Corporation Pakistan (TCP) to submit a detailed activity report on a monthly basis. Sources told Business Recorder on Monday that the ministry has decided to closely monitor the performance of different departments working under the ministry. The ministry is seeking regular activity report from all its ministerial departments to evaluate their performance.
They said that besides other entities, the MoC has also directed the state-run grain trader to submit a monthly report of all the activities, including revenue, expenditure and planning. "The ministry will submit these monthly reports to the Standing Committee on Commerce and Textile Industry of the National Assembly as it desire," sources added. The ministry of commerce, through a office memorandum No 16(5)/2014-AdmnIII dated February 19, 2014, has directed the TCP to submit the report of ongoing activities, including important domestic or foreign meetings took place during the month and their outcome, cost and expenditures details of the corporation, success stories of the month, plans for preceding month and revenue/earning details of the month. Sources said the ministry is also seeking suggestions and requirements related to performance of the TCP to accordingly facilitate it.
Following the directives of the MoC, TCP chairman Rizwan Ahmed has given this responsibility to Export, Marketing and Co-ordination (EM&C) Division for submission of detailed activity report on a monthly basis to the ministry. The EM&C Division has asked all concerned departments, including finance, accounts, Port Operation Division (POD), Dispatch Operation Division (DOD), imports, godowns and rice/cotton for submission of their performance report on a monthly basis to forward the same to the ministry of commerce.
Sources said the TCP has submitted first consolidated report of its activities for the month of February 2014 in the first week of March 2014. It has decided to dispatch the activity report on 5th of every month. "As per previous practice, the standing committee on commerce was directly collecting performance and activity report from different departments working under the ministry of commerce, however now the ministry has decided to itself monitor the performance and accordingly submit the same to the standing committee for the evaluation," they said.
