The Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) fortnightly report showed on Tuesday that around 13,369,627 cotton bales have to the country's ginneries by March 15th, showing an increase of 4.08 percent against last year when ginneries received 12,845,070 bales. PCGA Chairman Mukhtar Ahmed Khan Baloch briefed journalists about seed-cotton (phutti) arrivals, sales and unsold stock of cotton.
He said that 12,148,634 cotton bales were sold to the textile units and exporters bought 369,673 bales. Thus, overall 12,518,307 bales were traded, so far. He said that PCGA was following the production target of Pakistan Central Cotton Committee. Baloch said that total 42 out of 1,200 ginning factories are operational in Sindh and Punjab.
After the total trading of 1,258,307 bales, there are 851,320 bales available with ginners as unsold stock. He said that cotton trading remained firm amid strong physical price and higher cotton prices. Since the textile mills have increased the buying of cotton to meet the demand of European market after attaining the status of GSP Plus status, the rates are going up.
District wise cotton arrival in Punjab: Multan 4,95,869 bales, 13.51 percent more than last year, Lodhran 3,85,532 bales 38.70 percent increase, Khanewal 9,36,553 showing an increase of 2.95 percent, Muzaffargarh 4,13,961 bales 6.65 percent decrease, Dera Ghazi Khan 3,94,129 bales showed an increase of 12.51 percent, Rajanpur 4,11,578 bales showing an increase of 2.07 percent. Layyah 2,78,304 bales 8.78 percent more than last year, Vehari 8,75,504 bales 8.78 percent decrease, Sahiwal 5,33,206 bales decreased by 3.73 percent, Pakpattan 1,73,701 showing 33 percent less than preceding year, Okara 45,592 showing a decrease of 21.42 percent, Kasur 28,386 bales, Toba Tek Singh, 2,34, 968 bales , Faisalabad 64,188, Jhang 1,18,310, Mianwali 3,10,413 bales, Bhakkar 1,76,231 showing a decrease of 6.22, Sargodha 38,500 , Rahim Yar Khan,11,84,460, Bahawalpur 11,08,196 and Bahawalnagar 14,06,700 bales.
District wise cotton arrival in Sindh, Hyderabad 299,110 bales showing an increase of 18.44 percent, Mirpur Khas 362,049 , showing decrease by 10.31 percent. Sangarh 13,98,738 Nawabshah 2,92,988 Naushero Feroze 2,50,303, Khairpur 2,40,387 Ghotki 2,11,479,Sukkur, 3,59,126, Dadu 35,500 , Jamshoro 1,87,279, Badin 53,525 and Balochistan 63,048 bales. Ginneries received 40,960 bales during the fortnight of March Ist to March 15. Unsold stock is 851,320.
