Witness shares details of cheques Ishaq Dar issued to Hajveri Trust
ISLAMABAD: Prosecution witness Muhammad Azeem Wednesday informed the Accountability Court (AC) of Islamabad that former finance minister Ishaq Dar had issued cheques of Rs 65.3 million to Hajveri Foundation Trust at different times.
Muhammad Azeem, who was a director of the National Assembly, deposed before AC Judge Muhammad Bashir, who conducted hearing of a reference against the former finance minister for having assets beyond known sources of income. Three co-accused including National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) President Saeed Ahmed, Naeem Mehmood and Mansoor Raza also appeared before the court.
During the course of proceedings, the ANP president informed the court that his lawyer could not attend the proceedings today and other defence counsel would continue cross examination of the witness.
On which, NAB prosecutor Imran Shafiq said Saeed Ahmed himself was accused of opening seven bank accounts in the name of Ishaq Dar and he had to tell the court on whose orders those accounts were opened.
The prosecutor said several accounts were opened in the name of Ahmed, which were operated by the former finance minister. The accused had to identify those accounts and inform the court that how much amount was deposited to the accounts, he added. Later, the court adjourned the case.
