Limited edition iPhone X Tesla with solar panel costs over $4,500

A special limited-edition iPhone X, the iPhone X Tesla, has been made by a Russian accessory maker that is equipped with solar batteries on its back, which is also costing a bit too much.

Caviar, the Russian accessory maker is selling its own custom produced iPhone X that it calls the iPhone X Tesla for $4,587. First spotted by Apple Insider, the uniqueness about this phone is that it can harness its power through solar-powered charging.

As CNET describes it, iPhone X Tesla is actually a super premium case with gold accents and carbon fiber that comes pre-attached to a normal iPhone X. The smartphone comes in with authenticity certificate and one-year warranty. The phone is also shipped for free and a personal consultant will come along and the customer will only pay after doing a detailed inspection of the phone himself.

Caviar says that the solar battery can be charged either through the sun or even bright lamps. The device contains a carbon base, a shock-resistant solar panel, a solar battery charge indicator, and water and dust resistant feature. The case also made the iPhone X thicker. With the case on, the device is 16.2mm whereas, without the case its only 7.7mm.

The 64GB iPhone X Tesla model costs $4,587 whereas, the 256GB variant comes with a price tag of $4,829, payment for taxes and custom duties not included. The limited edition smartphone has only 999 units and the first one of it going to Tesla CEO Elon Musk. The company claimed that Tesla’s work on renewable energy and batteries inspired the phone’s solar charging case. The company says that it was also inspired by ‘three men of science’; Nikola Tesla, Steve Jobs and Elon Musk.

Also, the phone sent to Elon Musk will have ‘Made on Earth by Humans’ engraved on it, the same phrase that was engraved on the Tesla Roadster launched in space. Caviar says that in future, it expects iPhone X Tesla to be in hands of ‘the astronauts, pioneers, people who make great discoveries on the edge of human capabilities’.
