Khyber Pakhtunkhwa PAC takes notice of Rs 16.69 million surplus payment to SDA
Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has taken stern notice of the payment of additional amount of Rs 16.69 million to Project Director, Swabi Development Authority (SDA) in head of different development projects. The committee has directed the investigative committee for initiating disciplinary action against the responsible and measures for the recovery within a period of one month.
The meeting of the PAC, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly was held here with Acting Chairman Syed Jaffar Shah in the chair. Besides, members of the provincial assembly, Qurban Ali Khan, Abdul Munim Khan, Muzaffar Said advocate, Arbab Akbar Hayat Khan and Mehmood Batni, the meeting also attended by concerned officials of Audit, Provincial Assembly, Finance, Deputy Commissioner Swabi and other concerned departments.
The meeting discussed in detail audit objections in Swabi Development Authority and Health department made in year 2011-12. The meeting also directed the recovery of a loss of Rs 2.5 million incurred due to immature withdrawal of the amount by the Project Director, Swabi Development Authority, from the Bank of Khyber and its depositing in the United Bank Limited (UBL) within a period of 15 days.
On the failure of the District Health Officer (DHO) Swabi in presentation of record regarding the purchase and supply of Rs 26.321 million, the committee directed probing of the matter and referred it to a sub-committee for pinpointing of the responsible persons and preparation of report.
The committee while taking notice of the non-depositing of 25 percent doctors' shares worth Rs 360,297 by Medical Superintendent (MS) District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) Swabi in treasury, illegal payment of a amount of Rs 324,000 in head of non-practising allowance to private practicing doctors, illegal payment of Rs 350,697 to absent doctors and directed the recovery of stamp duty of Rs 175,722 in head of different purchase during 2008 to 2011 by the MS DHQ Swabi and identification of the concerned authorities to take action against them.
The committee, while taking notice of the lack of recovery of Rs 476,280 in head of electricity and gas bills from the residences allotted to Programme Manager, MNCH at Bacha Khan Medical Complex, directed MS Bacha Khan Medical Complex for taking measures for the recovery of the amount within a period of two weeks.
