The Karachi Port handled 188,106 tonnes of cargo comprising 139,255 tonnes of import cargo and 48,851 tonnes of export cargo including 5,811 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 139,255 tonnes comprised of 35,209 tonnes of containerised cargo; 9,633 tonnes of general cargo; 16,451 tonnes of bulk cargo: 4,000 tonnes of coal; 9,051 tonnes of canola; 3,400 tonnes of soyabean meal and 77,962 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 48,851 tonnes comprised of 35,255 tonnes of containerised cargo; 10 tonnes of general cargo; 1,266 tonnes of cement and 12,320 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,811 containers comprising 2,513 containers import and 3,298 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 661 of 20's and 918 of 40's loaded while 4 of 20's and 6 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 946 of 20's and 461 of 40's loaded containers while 346 of 20's and 542 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely Northern Prelude, PAC Aries, Hanjin Helsinki, MT Quetta, Seacon-8 and All Star Atlas carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were five vessels viz. UASC Ajman, Hanjin Helsinki, APL Sokhna, MT Lahore and Ikan Senbak carrying containers, oil tankers and coal respectively currently at the berths.
There were four ships namely UASC Ajman, Chemroute Sun, Nave Constellation and Ming Yuan carrying containers, naphtha and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Friday, while four ships namely APL Sokhna, Violata, United Grace and MT Lahore with containers and oil tanker are expected to sail on Saturday.
There were five vessels viz. Violata, Santa Rosa, Alam Sayang, Li Diang-6 and Star Reliance carrying containers, steam coal and steel due to arrive on Friday, while six vessels viz. Queens Quay, X-Press Euphrates, YM Oakland, Laurel Galaxy, Gulf Petroleum-II and Oriental Clematis carrying containers, ethanol, mogas and chemicals respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
The total import cargo of 38,911 tonnes includes 7,200 tonnes of palm oil and 31,711 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 24,933 tonnes includes 1,772 tonnes of cement and 23,161 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,888 containers comprising 1,669 containers import and 1,219 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There were three ships namely CV New Delhi Express, CV Hugo Schulte and CV Hurst Point with containers sailed out to sea on Friday morning. A total number of five vessels viz. CV New Delhi Express, CV Hugo Schulte, CV Hurst Point, Global Vika and Gas Texiana were occupied berths to load/offload containers, army vehicles, palm oil and chemicals respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as six ships namely MSC Didem, Rio Bravo, Beech-4, Al-Soor-II, Allstar Atlas and Valerie with containers, furnace oil, diesel oil, steel coil and cement are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There are three vessels viz. CV MSC Didem, Rio Bravo and Allstar Atlas carrying containers and steel coil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Friday.
There is one ship namely CV MSC Mara with containers due to arrive on Friday, while another ship namely CV MSC Jenny with containers is due to arrive on Saturday at Port Qasim. There are six vessels viz CV Safmarine Ngami, CV Maersk Atlanta, CV Fow Airet, CV CMA CGM Moliere, CV CMA CGM Chopin and CV MSC Kerry carrying containers due to arrive at Port Qasim as per schedule.
