The top price of Kenya's benchmark coffee grade eased to $385 per 50 kg bag at this week's auction from $457 per bag last week, the Nairobi Coffee Exchange (NCE) said. Kenya is a relatively small grower but its speciality beans are famous for their high quality and are much sought after for blending with those from other countries.
Grade AA sold at $196-$385 per bag, from $254-$457 per bag at the previous sale, while grade AB fetched $96-$291 per bag compared with $215-$288 last week. A total of 23,780 bags were offered, with 8,943 sold. Last week 24,848 bags were offered, with 8,768 sold, NCE said in its report late on Tuesday. The average price per bag eased to $224.61 from $245.12 last week.
