The Karachi Port handled 103,275 tonnes of cargo comprising 70,400 tonnes of import cargo and 32,875 tonnes of export cargo including 3,831 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 70,400 tonnes comprised of 22,997 tonnes of containerised cargo; 235 tonnes of general cargo; 38,121 tonnes of bulk cargo: 27,943 tonnes of coal; 6,042 tonnes of canola; 4,136 tonnes of soyabean meal and 9,047 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. The total export cargo of 32,875 tonnes comprised of 25,367 tonnes of containerised cargo; 57 tonnes of general cargo; 1,951 tonnes of cement and 5,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 3,831 containers comprising 1,533 containers import and 2,298 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The break-up of imported containers shows 705 of 20's and 337 of 40's loaded while 154 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 755 of 20's and 262 of 40's loaded containers while 207 of 20's and 406 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely Queens Quay, Oriental Clematies, Golden Denise, Water Breeze, Ikan Sembak and Han Zhang carrying containers, oil tankers, coal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were four vessels viz. Kota Gembira, Posen, MT Karachi and Golden Denise carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths. There were three ships namely Posen, Gulf Petroleum and Alam Sayang carrying containers, oil tanker and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while two ships namely Kota Carum and Ever Result with containers are expected to sail on Thursday.
There were four vessels viz. Kota Carum, PAC Aries, Ever Result and MT Quetta carrying containers, and oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while seven vessels viz. MSC Jenny, APL Seattle, Cape Marin, Wappen Van, Songa Ruby, Norca and Mikawa carrying containers, mogas, chemicals, naphtha and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 76,754 tonnes comprising 39,735 tonnes of import cargo and 37,019 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 2,711 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 39,735 tonnes includes 5,000 tonnes of edible oil; 2,773 tonnes of chemicals and 31,962 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 37,019 tonnes includes 12,050 tonnes of cement and 24,969 tonnes of containerised cargo. There were three ships namely CV Fowairet, CV Safmarine Ngami and MV Al-Mahboobah with containers and chemicals sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while another ship namely CV CMA CGM Mollere with containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of seven vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Mollere, CV Safmarine Ngami, CV Fowairet, MV Valerie, MV Al-Mahboobah, MT Autaurus and MT Beech-4 were occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, chemicals, edible oil and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as four ships namely CMA CGM Chopin, Al-Soor-II, SC Guoji and Yong Xing with containers, diesel oil, edible oil and general cargo are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There were four vessels carrying containers, chemicals and furnace oil took berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, and FOTCO Terminal respectively on Tuesday. There are two ships namely CV CMA CGM Chopin and Yong Xing with containers and general cargo due to arrive on Wednesday.
