A spokes-man for the government has categorically denied reports in a section of media that decision by the government to reject the application of General Pervez Musharraf (Retd) for exclusion of his name from ECL was taken after consultation with Chief of Army Staff, General Raheel Sharif. The case of General Pervez Musharraf being pursued by his legal aides is sub judice and currently proceeding before a court of competent jurisdiction.
As such any leading or conclusive public pronouncement or pre-judgement is violative of legal norms and principles of equity and justice. Some of these statements and interviews appearing in a section of media in this context are unwarranted, and unnecessary. The government firmly believes that armed forces of Pakistan are a national institution and its dignity cannot be compromised in any manner whatsoever. Any insinuations, oblique or direct remarks about the institution are therefore regrettable.-PR
