Jamaat-i-Islami Central Ameer Syed Munawar Hassan said peace could not be restored until the complete withdrawal of US-led troops from this region, saying that a peaceful and prosperous Afghanistan as a greater interest of Pakistan.
"The presence of US-led Western allied forces in Afghanistan would further create uncertainty and turbulent situation in Pakistan, which had gained nothing despite decade-long invasion in this region. Peace can only be restored by complete pull-out of the US allied troops from Afghanistan", said the JI Central Ameer, while speaking at a "Peace Conference" organised by Jamaat-i-Islami Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa at Nishtar Hall Peshawar here on Thursday, wherein leaders from political and religious parties participated.
Notable speakers include Chief of Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam-(JUI-S), Mualana Samiul Haq, Jamaat-i-Islami elected Central Ameer Sirajul Haq, JI Provincial ameer Professor Ibrahim Khan, JUI-S Maulana Yousaf Shah, JUI-Fazl Central leader Maulana Attaur Rahman, PML-N provincial president Pir Sabir Shah, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf provincial president Azam Swati, ANP central leader, Mian Iftikhar Hussain, provincial organiser Bashir Khan Matta, QWP leader Hashim Babar, ANP-Wali group leader Farid Tofan, PML-Q provincial president Intikhab Chamkani and other provincial leaders of various religious parties.
JI Central Ameer said the dialogue is only way to bring everlasting peace and stability in the country, adding that his party had always opposed adopting of force policy in this regard. He said that the use of force everywhere is not best option for establishment of peace in the country, rather create gulf between people and military forces. He said the development and progress cannot possible without restoration of durable peace. So, he said the region was desperately needed to establish everlasting calm and stability.
"If the peace-dialogue process couldn't be successful, then would make again similar attempt, but the force policy always brought destruction and uncertainty in the country," said Hassan. He appreciated the efforts of Samiul-Haq led Taliban and government committee's for restoration of sustainable peace, and played proactive role in building up a consensus between government and Taliban, and gave a message that the peace dialogue is to be held between them.
Manawar Hassan said due to wrong policies for successive governments, terrorism has been rooted up in the country. We need an independent and sovereign foreign policy, he stressed; demanding the government to revisit the foreign policy, and make it according to the best interest of the country, he added. He alleged the America has sown seed of terrorism in the entire world, which are faced with failure despite invasion over last a decade in this region. He asked the United States to complete pull-out of its forces from Afghanistan. He also called upon the government to abstain from interfering into internal affairs of Afghanistan, and let the Afghan government and its security forces make policies by themselves, for dealing with post-US led foreign troops from this region.
Appreciating the approaches of Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan for showing seriousness in establishment of peace, the JI Central Ameer asked the government to also work for enforcement of Sharia system in the country. He claimed that the terrorism has itself ended after implementation of the sharia system.
Commenting on the performance of the PML-N led government, he said the people have not given mandate to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz to improve relationship with neighbouring India, but it voted to power to establish sustainable peace and enforcement of sharia in the country.
Earlier, speaking at the conference, JUI-S chief Maulan Samiul Haq said that the peace-dialogue process wasn't suddenly started, but they made homework for three moths before initiation of talks between government and Taliban. He said they have been succeeded to cease fire from both sides, and hoped full, permanent truce. He said the Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan are patiently taking steps and quite serious for establishment of peace.
He, however, said there are also hurdles and difficulties in way of the peace-dialogue process. He added that there will be taken some time to wipe-out menace of terrorism and to restore peace. He urged the all political parties and other relevant stakeholders to support them to further get successes in the ongoing peace talks. Those forces, who want to use force policy, must not think on that, Sami said. He said those who are pushed for launching operations, are not well-wishers of the country. He blamed the US and Western powers had imposed this war and held responsible them for spreading terrorism and uncertainty in the entire world. "Islam emphasis on peace and prosperity, because it was linked with everything, Sami said.
Sirajul Haq, JI newly elected Central Ameer and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister said a massive level destruction took place due to wrong policies for former rulers and imposed war on the innocent people. He said the peace is eminent for development and progress in the country. He appreciated the efforts of government and Taliban committee in establishment of peace through talks.
Mualana Yousaf Shah, a provincial leader of JUI-S and a member of Taliban Committee, expressed the hope that the peace dialogue process is moving toward right direction and they would get further success in their efforts for peace. Another member of Taliban Committee and JI provincial ameer, Professor Ibrahim Khan said they had got two important achievements during the ongoing peace talks between government and Taliban, which include ceasefire from both side, and other one is agreement to further move forward of the process. He expressed the hope that the process of releasing of prisoners from both side will start very soon. He said the peace will turn again on the Pakhtuns soils and nation will soon hear good news. He emphasised the political parties and other relevant stakeholders should support the peace negotiators, rather pointing fingers on each other.
Other speakers, including PML-N provincial president Sabir Shah, PTI KP president Azam Swati, ANP provincial organiser Bashir Matta, QWP Hashim Babar, JUI-F leader Mualana Attaur Rahman, along with provincial leader of various religious factions supported the efforts of Jamaat-i-Islami for establishment of peace and assured full support from their respective parties in this regard.
Later, a resolution also unanimously adopted in which termed the peace-dialogue process is a milestone achievement and an effort for restoration of sustainable peace in the country; and supported fully the government and Taliban committee in their peace efforts. The resolution demanded the government and Taliban to extend period of ceasefire and asked the Centre to extend special incentives and relief package to terrorism-affected Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. The government should take proactive steps for revival of industries and bring investments in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, it was demanded.
