All Pakistan Inter-University Boxing Championship 2014, organised by the Directorate of Sports, University of Sindh (SU) Jamshoro in collaboration with Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF), was in full swing at Hyder Bux Pavilion of the varsity.
Professor Dr Imamuddin Khosa Vice Chairman of Sindh University Sports Board was the chief guest at the opening ceremony. Among others, Professor Dr Aslam Parvez Memon PVC SU Bhitshah Campus, Dr Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro PVC SU Laar Campus Badin, Akram Ansari, Director SU Sports, Ajved Bhatti Deputy Director Sports SU, officials of PBF and a large number of students were also present on the occasion.
On 1st day, the all boxers of Sindh University won their bouts, and qualified for the semi-finals. Thus University of Central Punjab (UCP), Superior University Lahore (SUL), Karachi University (KU), Punjab University (PU), Agriculture University Faisalabad (AUF), Sir Syed University Karachi (SSU), Balochistan University (BU), Iqra University (IU) Karachi, Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) Khairpur and Islamic University (IU) Bahawalpur were declared as successful in first session in different KG weight category.
Boxers, who won their bouts and qualified for the semi-finals of the 49kg category: S Manzoor Ali of SU, Muzamil Usama of CUP, Daniyal Khan of PU and Sheroz Kacchi of KU.
Those who qualified for the last-four from the 52kg category: Shehryar Kacchi of KU, Syed Waqar of SU and Sadam Hussain of PU. From the 56kg category: Shahbaz Manzoor of SUL, Rashid Khan of KU, Alf Arsalan of SU, Hamdan Ali of SSU and Shahzeb of UCP won their bouts and qualified for the semi-finals.
Hamza Fayaz of PU, Babar Ali of SALU, Tahir Ansari of SU and Mohsin Khan of BU qualified for the last-four stage in the 60kg competition. In the 64kg category: M Hussain of SU, Bilal Malik of UCP, Tahir Abbas of IU Bahawalpur and M Adnan of Iqra University qualified for the semi-finals. In the 69kg category: M Hussain Yasin of AUF, Aamir Khan of PU and Badil Khan of SUL qualified for the pre-finals. The final competitions will be held on Sunday (today) in the evening at SU. Commissioner Hyderabad division Jamal Mustafa Syed would be chief guest at the closing ceremony.
