The registered taxpayers and exporters would gather in Lahore on Tuesday (April 8) to present their cases before the sales tax refund committee of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) for finalising the strategy to deal with issue of pending sales tax refund claims.
Sources told Business Recorder here on Sunday that the said sales tax refund committee has also invited tax officials to discuss the issue of pending refunds. Overwhelming response has been received at LCCI sales tax refund committee from the industry. Many taxpayers have approached to the committee sharing their data and the suffering caused due to accumulation of sales tax refund following anomalies in sales tax rules and non payment of refund by the tax department. Looking at the overwhelming response president of LCCI has called a meeting of the respondents to the committee.
Representative of LCCI said that the decision will be taken in the meeting for future plan/strategy to make the government to realise the suffering of the industrialist cause by non payment of sales tax refund. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday (April 8) 2 pm at LCCI.
