The Provincial Doctors Association demanded the provincial government to take steps for provision of hostel facility for members of doctors' community, residing in private rooms and hotels elsewhere in Peshawar. Addressing at a news conference at Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday the Provincial Doctor Association (PDA) general secretary, Dr Javed Iqbal said that large number of doctors, serving at Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar, were lacking proper accommodation facility, due to negligence of the administration of LRH.
He said the doctors have been residing in rented private rooms at various hotels and residential flats in Khyber Bazaar, and Qissa Khawani in Peshawar, wherein the community members were faced numerous security challenges. Flanked by Dr Ismail Khan, Dr Rizwan, Dr Yasir Adnan, the PDA general secretary said that the Chief Executive of LRH, Muzaffar Din Sadiq, had formed an accommodation committee under his supervision, which is completely based on political ground and its members playing a bias and discriminatory role with the community.
Despite serious concern of the doctors' community on constituted committee, he said the committee was continuously functioning under same pattern, due to monopoly role of the Chief Executive LRH. He said the committee members had misused their power, and broken room lock of female a senior registrar (SR) Lady Reading Hospital, Dr Lubna and searched out entire room, which has also dented sanctity of their senior colleague. He said the Dr Lubna is serving at Cardiology ward, and it's her right to get accommodation facility in the LRH hostel. But, he sad the committee took extreme step, which is strongly deplorable.
The doctors' community demanded the provincial government to immediate dissolve the accommodation committee and formed a new body, comprising members from only teaching staffs, without having their political affiliation and background. It was also asked to conduct inquiry to entering room of the senior registrar without permission, and take stern action against those involved in this incident. The community also sought that the government should make arrangement of private hostels, to provide accommodation facility to large number doctors. It also warned that if the demands were not fulfilled within a week they would protest against it.
