Islamabad police authorities have directed to enhance security measures in the city with the focus on effective coordination among various wings of the force so that sensitive information can be shared in time and prompt action to be taken in return. AIG (Operations) Sultan Azam Temuri, following the directions from Minister for Interior Chaudry Nisar Ali Khan, has directed all police officials to fully contribute in improving the overall security of the city.
AIG (Operations) said it was the prime responsibility of the police to ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens and this duty should be done devotedly through spirit of patriotism. He said nefarious designs of mischievous elements should be foiled through maintenance of high vigilance and effective policing measures. AIG (Operations) directed police officials to brief their subordinates deputed at police pickets about vigilance steps and checking techniques on those points. He said policemen would be trained by Bomb Disposal Squad and directed patrolling teams to remain high alert against suspects and criminal elements.
He said all SPs would ensure that weapons and ammunition were kept by their subordinates in proper condition. He said officials of CID and AIG Special Branch would ensure that their staff was working efficiently and gathering information with responsibility. He directed to investigate suspects properly and not ignore even minor information obtained from them.
He said investigation techniques should be improved and policemen inquiring the criminals should immediately inform his officers in case of getting any important information. AIG (Operations) directed all SDPOs and SHOs to conduct checking of all hotels, guest houses, inns in their respective areas and verify the record of visitors after getting particulars of them. He also asked all officials to have complete information about slum areas in the city and properly maintain the record of survey conducted recently. AIG (Operations) directed to ensure crackdown against criminal elements residing in those slum areas and maintain complete record of proclaimed offenders, court absconders and those remained jail bird ever. He said progress of police officials would be reviewed continuously and capable cops ensuring effective crackdown against criminals would be encouraged.
Temuri asked for effective security measures at public places and rush areas. He said possible efforts should be made to check each person and walk through gates should be installed in such locations. He also directed to conduct survey of those places to ensure proper security arrangements there besides ensuring corner meetings with stakeholders for improvement. He asked to beef up security measures at weekly bazaars, hospitals, markets, Masajid, Imambargahs, seminaries, big motels, schools, colleges, bus stands. Temuri said security measures should be taken following shop and security ordinance while installation of CCTV cameras, appointment of security guards and checking through metal detectors should be ensured there. He said boundary wall should be erected at the places where it was deemed necessary.-PR
