Head coach Mickey Arthur has said that coaching Pakistan is a pretty 'emotionally driven’ task, with cricketers getting bashed after ‘a bad defeat.’

"It is very emotionally driven and very result-orientated," said Arthur, quoted The Sydney Morning Herald. "After a bad defeat, players get hounded. The media punish them. There's cricket shows on every night, guys getting abused," he added, while reflecting on his stint with Pakistan.

Speaking about the lack of structure and standards in Pakistan cricket, Arthur said that his arrival meant no compromise on ‘standards.’ "There is a lot of guys that come in and play international cricket that haven't really been coached, haven't had structure, haven't had standards….. What we've done is that uncompromising way we've worked with standards," he said.

Pakistan coming to attack England, says Azhar Ali

After enjoying success in the limited overs format, Arthur is currently working making them a team who can still win Test matches in a single session but no longer lose them in one.

"Consistency is getting closer," he says. "I'd like to stay on as long as possible because I think there's a lot of room for growth. I just hope I can put enough in order to develop this Test team into what they can become."

Pakistan will be facing England for the two Test series, with the first Test match scheduled at the historic Lord’s on May 24.
