Pakistan’s rising star Imam-ul-Haq has admitted that fellow teammate Babar Azam’s run out against Ireland was his mistake.

In an interview, the left-hander, who played superbly on the debut against Ireland, said, “We were batting well and it was about to rain. I was really worried that we have done all the hard work. So we [Babar and Imam] decided to take singles and take the game towards the end.”

“Suddenly I nudged to the off side and tried to take single without judging. It was my mistake,” 22-year-old admitted.

Speaking about his Test debut, he said, “Making my One Day International [ODI] debut was much difficult then making my Test debut. I was not worried for my Test debut unlike the way I was for maiden ODI. He added, “Playing for Pakistan is a dream come true”.

In an answer to critics, he said, “It was a big setback for me when I got the chance to play against New Zealand, but I got injured. It was very disappointing for me. The things that were running about me in the media were very disappointing.”

Following that, he played Pakistan Cup and ended up among the top five top scores of the competition. "Despite of my form I was not selected for Pakistan Super League (PSL)," he said.

“During the [PSL], I use my time training at the National Cricket Academy [NCA]. Especially, Grant Flower helped me a lot. I changed my lifestyle and routine to get fit and make myself ready to represent Pakistan again,” Imam, the nephew of Pakistan legendary batsman Inzamam-ul-Haq said.

He further said that Inzamam doesn’t talk about cricket with him. "But still he called me ahead of my Test debut and advised me to think about Pakistan," he added.
