Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has asked Islamabad and Rawalpindi police to treat the twin cities as a single entity for operational purposes and improve their co-ordination to provide better security to the residents of the two cities.
He was chairing a joint high-level meeting of senior officials of Rawalpindi and Islamabad police here on Monday. The meeting was attended by IG Police Islamabad, RPO Rawalpindi, AIG Operations Islamabad, CPO Rawalpindi and other senior officials. Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said that Islamabad and Rawalpindi police should be treated as one force not only in countering terrorism but also in eradicating major crimes.
He said joint patrolling by the police force of two cities should be ensured in contiguous areas under the watchful eye of senior officers in both the cities. Nisar said Rawalpindi and Islamabad police may share their crime data with each other to facilitate investigation of crimes. Acting IG Islamabad informed the Minister that regular meetings are taking place at various levels between the police of two cities.
Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan stressed that co-ordination taking place between the police of two cities should be reflected on ground and said it is the responsibility of senior officers to monitor joint patrolling at all hours particularly at night and early morning. Chaudhry Nisar inquired about the incident that took place on I J Principal Road and expressed his sorrow and grief over the martyrdom of a police jawan. The Minister was briefed about the latest on the investigations in Sabzi Mandi bomb blast. He directed the police authorities to employ all resources to identify the culprits.-PR
