Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) is making all out efforts to get resolved all the taxation related issues being faced by the business community. LCCI Vice President Kashif Anwar stated this while speaking at Annual General Meeting of the Lahore Crockery and Glassware Merchants Group here on Wednesday.
The Vice President said that the Lahore Chamber was well aware of the fact that complex taxation procedures always create problems for the business community, therefore, efforts were being made to convince the authorities to take stakeholders on board on tax policy issues.
He said that the LCCI had already appealed to the Federal Board of Revenue to simplify the procedures so that maximum number of businessmen could get them registered with the FBR. He urged the trading community to participate in the LCCI activities to learn about the most modern business techniques in vogue in the developed world and for enhancing their interaction with foreign businessmen and other dignitaries who visit Lahore Chamber.
He said that the business community would have to keep an eye on the innovations being done the world over so that they could be able to do business with their global partners. The President said that the Lahore Chamber would soon convene a meeting of district administration at the LCCI to convey the concerns of the Crockery Association regarding the construction of a Parking Plaza.
He, however, asked the office-bearers of the Crockery Association to submit a proposed map of the Parking Plaza to the Chamber for its onward submission to the Chief Minister. He said that the businessmen would have to play its role to turn this country an Asian Tiger. He urged them to get themselves register with FBR to contribute to the national exchequer and help broaden the tax net.
He said that it was a good sign that the government was tackling all economic issues on priority basis. He hoped that the issue of shortage of electricity and gas would also be resolved soon so that the economic activity could get a real boost. He said that the LCCI had established an internationally recognised Mediation Centre at its premises for the out of court settlement of business disputes, therefore, the private sector should avail the opportunity for the early resolution of their issues.
He also informed the participants that the LCCI has also very recently established Video Conferencing Facility at its premises. He said that the very objective was to enable the businessmen to frequently interact with their foreign counterparts. The Chairman of the Lahore Crockery and Glassware Merchants Group Haji Farrukh Iqbal, President Tariq Hameed, Senior Vice President Muhammad Shaukat, Vice President Irfan Rasheed and President Shah Alam Board Khawaja Muhammad Amir also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the tax related issues faced by the traders community.
