Gmail has gotten a huge makeover with amazing features and one of those features that grabbed attention of the users was the ability to mention people within an email.

Google’s email service, Gmail recently got major changes to it. With options including Smart Compose and a snooze button for incoming mails, one feature also was to ‘@’ mention people in the email, a feature similar to the micro-blogging site Twitter.

When composing a message or giving a reply to an email, the user can insert anyone’s email address in the body of the text by entering the ‘@’ symbol and the user’s name. If user has more than one people with the same name, Gmail will pop up a list of those people and the user can choose the desired person. Choosing the person will add up a ‘mailto’ link labeled with their name, which upon clicking by the recipient will open up a new compose window so that they can write to the mentioned contact, explained The Next Web.

Moreover, if the ‘+’ sign is mentioned instead of ‘@’, the contact will be automatically added as a recipient of the current message. This feature comes in handy when someone has to introduce new people to another contact.

As reported by Guardian Life, these features are already live and can be used, but in order to use them, the user should have the new Gmail interface that can be turned on by choosing the option in the menu that appears upon clicking the gear icon in the top right of the inbox.
