Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that a state-of-the-art command and control centre is being set up in the provincial metropolis with a sum of five billion rupees which will help control crime. He said that most modern equipment would be set up at the command and control centre and the monitoring of the city would be carried out through CCTV cameras.
He was presiding over a high-level meeting here on Thursday, which reviewed command and control centre project. A detailed briefing was also given on the occasion regarding the visit of Punjab government's delegation to Turkey. Shahbaz directed that maximum resources should be utilised for the creation of a peaceful society and police should perform its duties towards maintenance of law and order and elimination of crimes in an efficient manner.
He also directed that the project of command and control centre in Lahore be completed expeditiously and in a professional manner. He further directed that planning should be made for the establishment of command and control centres in three other big cities of Punjab including Multan, Faisalabad and Rawalpindi. The Chief Minister issued instructions for considering the proposal of setting up dolphin unit comprising motorcyclists on the model of Turkey and said police officers should be sent to Turkey for modern training.
