The Met Office on Thursday forecast widespread rain and thundershower associated with strong gusty winds/dust storm in the country during the next 24 hours. "A well-marked low lies over Balochistan and adjoining area. A westerly wave is affecting central and southern parts of the country," said the Met Office in its weather summary.
The weather forecast is for Quetta, Zhob, Kalat, Makran, Sibbi and Naseerabad divisions, Bannu and D I Khan divisions, Sukkur and Larkana divisions, D G Khan, Multan and Bahawalpur divisions, while at isolated places in Malakand, Hazara divisions, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Rain thundershower associated with gusty winds/dust storm occurred at scattered places in Sindh and at isolated places in Balochistan, South Punjab, South Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Malakand and Hazara divisions, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan in the last 24 hours, the Met Office said.
Maximum rainfall recorded at Dadu 40 mm, Lasbella 33 mm, Shaheed Benazirabad 19 mm, D G Khan 5 mm, Padiddan, Khanpur 4 mm each, Kakul and Zhob 2 mm each, Pattan, Quetta and Karachi 1 mm each, it said. Noukundi with minimum 40 degrees Centigrade has emerged the hottest place in the country with Padiddan, Chhor, Dalbandin, Turbat, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sukkur, R Y Khan 38 degrees Centigrade each.
Weather in Karachi remained partly cloudy with drizzled in some parts of the city. Temperature in the provincial metropolis ranged between 24 degrees Centigrade to 32 degrees Centigrade with 78 percent humidity in the air, the office said. The Met Office forecast partly cloudy weather with chances of rain/thunderstorm at night for the metropolis.
