Deputy Director KP Expanded Programme of Immunisation (EPI), Dr Janbaz Afridi while addressing the participants of a session on Friday arranged for the officers of Information Department about the anti-measles campaign to be launched across the province from May 19 has said that all stakeholders have the most vital role in making the upcoming Measles campaign a real success and without the full support of this department, the desired results of the campaign can not be achieved in the province.
The 12-day campaign is scheduled to be launched in all the districts of the province from next week by KP EPI to vaccinate more than 9.6 million children of the province between the age group of 6 months to 10 years to immunise them against the expected outbreak of measles as a precautionary measure.
Dr Janbaz Afridi said that EPI has taken all the stakeholders including the relevant government departments, divisional and district administrations, local political leadership, opinion makers, Ulema, teachers, media and other segment of the society to make the campaign a success story.
The provincial EPI chief urged the officers to make the best use of their professional expertise to motivate and mobilise the public at large to get their kids vaccinated during the campaign. The participants of the session were briefed about various aspects of the campaign including background, strategy, advocacy, communication, social mobilisation, monitoring and supervision with special focus on the role of Information department in this regard. The participants also gave their suggestions to further improve the strategy.
