Developments in India, Afghanistan after elections: Sherpao urges government to convene APC
Qaumi Watan Party Central chairman, Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao said that the peace dialogue process with Taliban, so far did not yield any positive results under the given circumstances, and called upon the government to take pragmatic steps for restoration of peace in the country.
"Both side peace negotiators should avoid accusing each other for the present deadlock in the peace-talks, which could be harmful for the dialogue, QWP chief said while talking to media persons at his residence in Hayatabad Peshawar on Saturday. On the occasion, the activists of Jamaat-i-Islami from PK-7 Ghari Sherdad, Haji Saiful Khan and Haji Sareer Khan, along with family members and friend announced to join the QWP.
Keeping in view of the current development in the region, particularly neighbouring India and Afghanistan, Sherpao asked the government to convene all parties' conference (APC), to prepare a roadmap for dealing with aftermath situation of elections in India and Afghanistan, and in order to review the overall policies of the country. Commenting of wining of majority of seats by the religious extremist Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) in the Indian general elections, QWP chief said that the BJP's Prime Minister designated and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi should not be considered as Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former prime minister of India. "If Pakistan would internally weak, then India could take full benefit from this equation, Sherpao said, added that the all political parties should joint together regardless about their internal differences, and collectively work for sole cause of country integrity and solidarity to timely overcome with internal and external challenges of the country.
Criticising the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf led provincial government, the QWP chief said that the provincial government has failed to deliver the masses and resolve major their issues during last one year of rule in the province. He said PTI voted to power on name of change, but he said the change isn't visible in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Those claiming for establishment of new Pakistan, had given nothing to people, rather increase their difficulties in shape of incidents of kidnapping for ransom, targeted killings, extortions, coupled with the growing unemployment, load shedding and price hike, Sherpao added.
About the PTI chief demand from removal of all members of Election Commission of Pakistan, QWP chairman said the demand was unconstitutional, and asked the PTI chief if he has any reservations about the elections results, should appeal in the election tribunal. He opposed the holding of mid term elections in the country, asked the giving full chance to complete the current democratic elected government its five year constitutional tenure.
