Street children football team enjoys traditional Khyber Pakhtunkhwa hospitality
On the invitation of the Department of Social Welfare and Child Protection Commission, the members of Pakistan Street Children Football team on Saturday visited Special Education Complex, Hayatabad and attended a colourful function with special children.
On this occasion, the special children welcomed their guests with national and welcoming songs and also paid tributes to them. Similarly, blind children exhibited their fun of the use of musical equipment. Special Assistant to CM for Social Welfare, Special Education and Women Development, Professor Dr Meher Taj Roghani was chief guest while besides, Secretary Social Welfare, Hidayat Jan, Chief Protection Officer Murad Afridi, Deputy Child Protection Officer, Ejaz Khan, Program Organiser Saddaqat Shah Roghani, officers of the department, parents of special children, representatives of welfare organisations and student of Khyber Medical University attended the function at large.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr, Meher Taj Roghani said they are proud of their football team, which earned laurels for the country in the world. She said from today they would be encouraged and instead of street children they would be called state children.
The special assistant also paid tribute to media in the highlighting of the achievements of these children. She urged the media representatives for giving full attention to these national heroes. Professor Dr Meher Taj Roghani said the provincial government of PTI is fully encouraging both sports and players, saying they welcome the national heroes on coming to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
Regarding welfare-oriented governmental steps special children, she said endowment fund has been established for special persons while the Special Education Complex, Hayatabad, is being converted into Centre of Excellence, where special children will be provided with education and training facilities under the same roof. She said parents should not deprive their children of education and like normal children they should also be brought into the forefront and polish their hidden capabilities. The special assistant on behalf of the officers and staff of the Department of Social Welfare in general and provincial government in particular expressed good wishes and co-operation to the football team.
