The business community engaged in different trade fields will participate in the Made in Pakistan Expo 2014, scheduled to be held in Mumbai, India, from August 31 to September 5 this year, said Ijaz A. Khokhar, former chairman of Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturer and Exporters Association (PRGMEA).
Talking to Business Recorder here on Sunday, he said the Expo 2014 was being jointly organised by PRGMEA and EVECON with the support of Commerce, Textile ministries of Pakistan and All India Association of Industries. The event is unprecedented in the history of Pakistan-India trade ties and makes Pakistan's continued foray into Mumbai, the heart of Indian economy, and it will provide an opportunity to Pakistani business community to discuss trade related issues with Indian authorities, he said.
The participation in the Expo 2014 will help the Pakistani business community in developing B2B (business to business) contacts with their Indian counterparts as well as support in broadening the chance of boosting "regional trade" in the sub-continent, Ijaz said.
He stressed upon the young entrepreneurs to participate in the exhibition not only for the business but also for introducing Pakistani products in the Indian market. The trade fairs and exhibitions are providing opportunities for direct interaction with businessmen and ensure the possibilities for displaying their products, he said. Multi-products like designer wear, footwear, fabrics of all sorts, agricultural products, furniture, onyx and marble handicrafts, textile made-ups, surgical instruments, sports goods, jewellery, precious and semi- precious stones etc would be displayed in the Expo-2014, he said.
Ijaz said the Made in Pakistan Expo in Mumbai will ensure the entry of Pakistani products in one of the world's largest consumer markets, adding that it will help introduce high quality Pakistani products infused with rich culture to the Indian business community and the people at large. The Pakistani business community should focus attention on setting up chain of stores in India for ensuring availability of products in the Indian market for the convenience of the buyer, he said.
