Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq on Sunday lashed out at the main stream political parties including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People's Party (PPP) for protecting the corrupt elements among their ranks. Addressing a reception hosted by his party here, the newly-elected JI chief said that the PPP and PML-N cannot hold each other accountable as both are corrupt.
"If Articles 62, 63 of the constitution was implemented in letter and spirit, most of the sitting parliamentarians would be in jail as they did not fulfil the conditions of contesting elections," he added. He maintained that the capital was a marble city but there was no justice for poor people there. If people voted his party to power, it would turn every city into Islamabad.
Talking about the recent Indian elections, he said that the Prime Minister hopeful Narendra Modi should work for the welfare of poor people of India and should protect the rights of minorities living there.
Sirajul Haq criticised political parties for lack of democracy in the parties. He questioned as to why there was no democracy in political parties which claimed to be democratic.
