Karachi Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested three suspects allegedly involved in looting lockers in Garden area. The robbers had broken lockers of a private bank on April 6 and taken away valuables, gold and jewelries worth rupees millions.
SSP Malir, Pir Muhammad Bux, told Business Recorder that they have arrested 13 suspects including those involved in looting bank lockers. "We are launching further raids to apprehend other accused involved in looting the bank's lockers," he added.
He said that the key figure in the lockers robbery, Muhammad Ali, was also arrested by police form Islamabad. He said that Muhammad Ali's name was on Exit Control List (ECL) to prevent him from fleeing to Dubai, where a gang of robbers including Muhammad Ali had planned the said robbery to loot the lockers.
The SSP further said that Malik Zauk and his sister Tahira also played key role in the robbery. "They are habitual offenders, (gang of nine criminals) involved in many other theft cases, and one of them is involved in a murder case as well," he added.
The accused originally hail from Atak, Parachinar and other cities who ganged up in Karachi to carry out criminal activities. The police further claimed to have captured 10 other suspects, who were involved in robberies. Meanwhile, Sindh Police released pictures of the accused and appealed people to help trace the accused still at large.
